Advisory: UPDATE: New time for possible PSPS in Western Malibu - Thur, 10/24 9PM to Fri 10/25 9AM

Dear Pepperdine Libboard,

Southern California Edison (SCE) has updated its notice to the City with a revised time schedule for a potential Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) that could affect Western Malibu. The new timeframe for possibly implementing the PSPS is now Thursday, October 24, 9:00 PM to Friday, October 25, 9:00 AM.

The affected area is the “Galahad Circuit," which runs approximately from the western edge of Point Dume to Point Mugu and 2-4 miles inland. View the Galahad map online at https://library.sce.com/content/dam/sce-doclib/public/sce-high-fire-area-emergency-documents/los-angeles-county/g-l/_037_GALAHAD.pdf

Individuals who are medically dependent on electricity service should consider proactively staying in another area until conditions change. Residents are encouraged to check on family members and neighbors who may need assistance.

If a PSPS is implemented, and the hazardous conditions have passed, it could take 24 to 72 hours before service is restored because SCE must first inspect all power lines in the affected circuit area to ensure they are safe to re-energize.

Residents should monitor local news, including KNX AM-1070 and KBUU 99.1-FM on the radio.

The City and the LA County Fire Department will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as they are received. The City will post information on the website (www.MalibuCity.org), social media, Nextdoor, and the Emergency & Traffic Hotline (310-456-9982) and with emergency alerts. Updates to be provided as they are received. For more information, call Malibu City Hall at 310-456-2489.

For additional information, including how to prepare for a power outage, visit www.MalibuCity.org/PSPS. For ongoing status updates of this potential PSPS event, visit www.SCE.com/PSPS.
