Advisory: *UPDATE* #LASD Homicide Assisting Baldwin Park Police, A Stabbing Death Investigation, 4700 Blk of Maine Av, Baldwin Park

Dear Nixle User,

Baldwin Park Police Department responded to a residence on the 4700 block of Maine Avenue, Baldwin Park, at approximately 5:26 hours regarding a person down call.

Upon arrival, officers found a female Hispanic 18 years-old, on the front porch suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds. She was transported to a local hospital where she is being treated for her injuries.

During their initial investigation, officers ultimately discovered a male Black in his 30’s, in the garage of an adjacent residence. The victim appeared to have suffered stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives have responded to the location and learned that the male and female had a prior dating relationship. It is believed the male and female were involved in a physical struggle. The male resided at the location.

The investigation is in its early stages. It has yet to be determined who is the ”suspect” and who is the “victim” in this incident.

During a brief search of the residence and surrounding area, the weapon was not located. A more extensive search is currently being conducted.

The investigation is still ongoing.

There is no further information available at this time.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau Lt. Jauch at (323) 890-5500.  If you prefer to provide information anonymously, you may call "Crime Stoppers" by dialing (800) 222-TIPS (8477), or texting the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or by using the website http://lacrimestoppers.org.

Community: Child and Adult Seatbelt Safety #LASD @CA_DMV

Dear Nixle User,

Worn properly, seat belts are your best protection against injury in a crash. Laws, education, and technology have increased seat belt use from 11% in 19812 to nearly 85% in 20103, saving hundreds of thousands of lives. For 16- to 24-year-olds, seat belt use is significantly lower than other age groups. Buckling your seat belt as soon as you sit in your vehicle establishes good habits, and sets a great example for children or other passengers riding with you.

*Children who are eight years of age and older or who are taller than 4’9 must wear belts.

*Children who are younger than eight years of age or who are under 4’9 must use a federally-approved child restraint seat.

*Children under the age of eight may only ride in the front seat of a vehicle if they are physically unable to ride in the rear.

*If your passenger is not wearing a seatbelt and the passenger is under age of 16, the driver of the vehicle can be cited.

Statistics

*Buckling up with a seatbelt that has a shoulder strap and a lap belt increases your chance of surviving a traffic accident by 4.

*More than ½ of traffic related deaths occur within 25 miles of home- be sure to wear your seatbelt even for short distance trips.

*A collision at 30 mph is equivalent to hitting the ground from top of 3 story building if unrestrained.
