| Community: Sheriff's Station Invites Residents to Meet Newest Station Volunteer- A Miniature Horse! #LASD #westlakevillage Dear Nixle User, We are excited to announce that the newest volunteer member of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station, a miniature therapy horse, will be at the Westlake Village Library to present, the first of its kind, innovative program to promote childhood literacy. This fantastic event will be held February 18, 2015, from 4:00-5:30 PM. There will be stories about horses, the opportunity to learn about these magical miniature therapy horses and the programs within which they work, and the chance to visit and interact with a miniature therapy horse. Miniature Therapy Horses are highly trained to work with hospitals, hospice programs, outreach programs, law enforcement communities, and with those who have experienced traumatic events. The therapy programs have touched 35,000 people nationwide and include the Ronald McDonald House. These horses were also dispatched to help console victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, CT. Their varied and unique skills have aided in many diverse situations and may be invaluable. Now, these incredible little horses will bring their special talents and experience to our local community as the newest members of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station.
