Scott Presides Over Custody Assistant Graduation, Inaugural Badge Pinning Ceremony at the Biscailuz Cntr Training Academy Hi Nixle User, Thursday afternoon, October 9, 2014, there were 30 recruits who graduated from the Biscailuz Center Training Academy as Class #81. Of these recruits, there were 21 males and 9 females; 27 were Los Angeles County Custody Assistants; 3 were Custody Assistants from the participating agencies of Huntington Beach, San Fernando, and Santa Monica Police Departments. Custody Assistant Class #81 was unique in that they were the first class to not only receive their training and graduate from the newly rededicated and renovated Biscailuz Center Training Academy, but also participated in a inaugural badge-pinning ceremony. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Chief David Fender, Custody Services Division, Specialized Programs, was the keynote speaker and delivered inspirational remarks to the graduates and their guests. The badge-pinning ceremony was conducted with the new Custody Assistants receiving their badges from a family member or loved one. After receiving their graduation certificates, the graduates were officially sworn in as Custody Assistants by Sheriff John Scott. In a special segment of the ceremony, Custody Assistant Jose Flores of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was named the Honor Recruit. This award is given to the recruit who achieves the highest numerical average based upon leadership qualities, academics, and physical performance throughout the training period. Additionally, Custody Assistant Alexandra Trull was named the Academic Recruit for graduating with the highest academic scores.
