Community: CHP officer rescues sucidal man from jumping off of freeway overcrossing.

Hi Pepperdine Libboard,

Thursday August 7, 2014, at approximately 7:06 p.m. a CHP Officer, from the Baldwin Park CHP office, heard a broadcast of a pedestrian standing over the SR-57 freeway near the I-10 interchange, in Diamond Bar. The Officer responded and observed a young male adult in black clothing standing next to a green colored vehicle. The CHP Officer contacted the young man standing close to the edge of the bridge rail. It was determined the man intended to jump off the freeway bridge. Approximately 15 minutes after contacting the male the CHP Officer was successfully able to help him move away from the edge of the bridge rail. The young man was transported to LCMC/USC medical center for psychiatric evaluation and care.
