Luna, Sheriff Advisory: **UPD**#LASD Homicide Detectives are Responding to a Shooting Death Investigation, 1200 blk East 81st. Street, unincorp. LA Dear Pepperdine Libboard, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide investigators are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of a male adult in an area of Unincorporated Los Angeles.  The incident occurred on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at approximately 9:20 p.m.   Deputies from Century Sheriff’s Station responded to the 8000 block of South Hooper Avenue in the city of Los Angeles regarding a report of a gunshot victim.  Upon arrival, deputies located two male victims in an alley to the west of the reported location.  The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and pronounced one of the victims deceased on scene.   The second victim was transported to a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds to his leg.      Investigators learned the victims were alerted to the sounding of a car alarm to their vehicle that was parked in the alley.   They observed three suspects attempting to steal their vehicle.   When they confronted the suspects, a fourth suspect, standing near the south entrance of the alley, produced a firearm and opened fire on the victims.   One of the victims, armed with a firearm, returned fire in what appears to be self-defense.   The suspects fled the scene in a newer model, red or burgundy, four-door, coupe westbound on 81st Street.  The deceased victim, a male Hispanic, 41-years-old, was struck in the upper torso and tragically died on scene.  The second victim, a male Hispanic adult, was struck in the leg and transported to a local hospital.      The investigation is ongoing, and currently, there's no information available at this time. LA    VICTIM(S): Male Adult   SUSPECT(S):  Unknown    UNIT:  Homicide Bureau – Lieutenant Steven De Jong   Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide investigators are responding to assist Century Sheriff’s Station with a shooting death investigation.  The incident was reported Saturday, August 16, 2025, at approximately 9:20PM on the 1200 block of East 81st. Street, unincorporated LA. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
