| Community: Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Thanks to the Uniformed Men and Women #LASD #badgefamily Dear Nixle User, Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day! January 9th, 2015 marks the first official holiday that recognizes Sheriff’s deputies, police officers and other law enforcement officials who serve and protect our communities. Started by the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy, and other partnering organizations, the public is encouraged to show support for the safety officials in their community by doing any of the following: · Wear blue clothing in support of law enforcement. · See a police officer, thank a police officer. · Participate in Project Blue Light. Replace your white porch light with a blue one. · Share a story about a positive law enforcement experience on social media. · Ask children in your community to write letters in support of law enforcement. · Advertise support through local media outlets. According to the website of support group Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S), 780,000 police officers across the country put a badge on and go to work each day, knowing that they may face extremely dangerous situations. Roughly 150 officers die in the line of duty each year, and 14,000 officers are injured while on duty. Please show your support, on this day especially, for all the men and women in the world that risk their lives to protect our freedom.
