Luna, Sheriff | | | | Advisory: #LASD Access to Care Bureau Collaborated with Toyota and County of LA Employees for a Toy Giveaway for Children of Incarcerated Parents Dear Pepperdine Libboard, From November 17 to December 19, 2024, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Access to Care Bureau collaborated with Toyota and County of Los Angeles employees to gather over one thousand toys for children of incarcerated parents. Various Los Angeles County Custody Facilities, including the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, Men's Central Jail, Century Regional Detention Facility, LAGMC, and Pitches Detention Center, participated in this heartwarming initiative by distributing the donated toys. The toy distribution took place on December 21 and December 22 at the LASD custody visiting centers, bringing joy to children who came to visit their incarcerated loved ones. The visiting centers were beautifully decorated by Santa’s helpers, creating a festive atmosphere filled with engaging arts and crafts activities. Children had the opportunity to create ornaments and engage in coloring activities alongside LASD staff, family, and friends. Additionally, the event featured delightful holiday treats, including cupcakes and cookies provided by the Food Services Bureau, ensuring a cheerful and memorable experience for everyone involved. Overall, this event fostered a sense of community and holiday spirit, making it a truly special occasion for families during the festive season. “When community events come around like the annual Christmas toy distribution, it allows us to highlight the amazing men and women who give selflessly all year long. By offering help, kindness, and care to others, we build connections with our communities, said Acting Captain Kellee Hicks. It highlights the importance of community, compassion, and the reciprocal nature of human relationships. Ultimately, it speaks to the power of empathy and the strength that comes from supporting one another.” Forwarded by: Sheriff's Information Bureau Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department 211 West Temple Street, Los Angeles California 90012 213-229-1700 http://www.lasd.org *Text & Email, Register for LASD Nixle messages: To receive more detailed, up-to-date information via E-MAIL and/or TEXT directly from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD), sign up for "Nixle" alerts at http://www.Nixle.com and register for "LASD – Headquarters Newsroom (SHB), Los Angeles County Sheriff" AND your local LASD station area.
