| Community: First Date Cliff Rescue - Altadena, Angeles National Forest - LASD Dear Pepperdine Libboard, First Date Cliff Rescue LASD Air 5 Rescued a couple from a cliff at Lowe Canyon, near dawn Mine, above Altadena in the Angeles National Forest. Two young hikers on their first date were airlifted to safety by Special Enforcement Bureau deputy sheriff tactical paramedics and Altadena Mountain Rescue reserve sheriff deputies. The hikers had a map and a phone, but the trails can be confusing. When they realized they were lost, the hikers wisely stopped searching for a way out, and fortunately were able to get a cell phone signal and call Altadena Sheriff’s Station for help. Do you have a HIKING PLAN? Hiking/Camping is a fun way to get family and friends together to enjoy the outdoors and to get some physical activity. However, you should always be prepared for the unexpected. You should tell family and friends what your plans are and provide a list of who will be going with you. That’s why the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department would like to remind the residents of Los Angeles County (and beyond) that having a HIKING / CAMPING PLAN is crucial to survival in case of an emergency. Before you leave, please fill out LASD – HIKING PLAN sheet and provide to a loved one to hold onto just in case something happens to a member of your hiking/camping expedition. Or, if you know someone going on a hike, ask them to fill out this easy form, so that it will help your mind at ease. You can download the form by visiting: HIKING PLAN Sheet http://file.lacounty.gov/lasd/cms1_163961.pdf Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Search and Rescue Team members are Reserve Sheriff’s deputies who volunteer their time to help others for $1 a year, and who partner with sheriff’s civilian volunteers who volunteer for free.
