Saturday January 11, 2014, 11:41 AM LASD - HQ Newsroom (SHB), Los Angeles County Sheriff Community: Sheriff's Deputy for the Day - A Terminally Ill Teen Inspires Palmdale Deputies Hi Pepperdine Libboard, Palmdale Sheriff Station deputies were honored to present 18 year-old Allan Gonzales as “Honorary Sheriff” and give him the opportunity to be a “Deputy for a Day” on Monday, January 6, 2014.   This amazing young man, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer, has always dreamed of becoming a Deputy Sheriff. Allan’s brother Emilio informed Palmdale sheriff's deputies about his brother’s dream of becoming a deputy sheriff. The deputies were so inspired by his story they began to donate their own money to purchase special items to make Allan’s day even more special. Allan was presented with an “Honorary Sheriff” certificate, a station pin and coin, as well as a deputy sheriff hat. Allan was taken on a tour of the station and finished his day with a ride-a-long. Allan enjoyed his day so much, he plans on joining deputies for another ride-along. This young man is a true inspiration to everyone and truly has such a positive outlook on life. The men and women of Palmdale sheriff's station were definitely blessed and honored to partner with Allan Gonzales as a “Deputy for a Day”.
