Robert G. Luna, Sheriff

Advisory: LASD Temple Sheriff's Station conducted a city-wide operation focusing on quality-of-life issues involving the homeless population.

Dear Pepperdine Libboard,

In a coordinated effort to assist those experiencing homelessness in the City of Rosemead, deputies from the Temple Station, alongside the LASD Homeless Outreach Services Team (HOST), LA County Probation, and the Los Angeles Center for Drug and Alcohol Abuse (LACADA), have been actively engaging in outreach operations. This collaboration aims to provide comprehensive support, including mental health services, substance abuse treatment, and housing assistance to the unhoused population, aligning with HOST's mission to mitigate the homelessness crisis while enhancing public safety and upholding the dignity of those affected.

The HOST program has been recognized for its innovative approach, which goes beyond traditional law enforcement by directly engaging with and providing essential services to homeless individuals. This initiative has been part of a broader strategy to foster public safety by addressing the root causes of homelessness and integrating community resources like LAHSA and various non-profit organizations. These efforts have included on-the-ground operations where deputies offer immediate assistance and connect individuals with long-term support services.

Such operations underscore the LASD's commitment to proactive community engagement, aiming not only to assist those in need but also to enhance the overall safety and cleanliness of the community. These ongoing efforts are part of a series of similar operations conducted by the Temple Station deputies throughout the year, reflecting a sustained commitment to public service and safety.
